Getting to know Miamisburg

Miamisburg sits on the Great Miami River in southern Montgomery County. Settlers built a stockade here called Hole’s Station around 1797, and the town of Miamisburg was laid out in 1818.

Its downtown Market Square historic district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with 19th- and early 20th-century buildings such as the Baum Opera House. Just outside downtown is the Miamisburg Mound, one of the most striking ancient earthworks in Ohio.

Parks and trails

Riverfront Park has an amphitheater, splash pad and direct access to the Great Miami River Trail. Sycamore Trails Park offers an 18-hole disc golf course, a fishing pond and hiking trails.
Shopping and dining

Downtown Miamisburg, centered on Market Square at Main Street and Central Avenue, has local shops and restaurants a short walk from the river.
Riverfront events

Riverfront Park hosts concerts, carnivals and other community events, and Sycamore Trails Aquatic Center is open in the summer season.
Ancient and early history

The Miamisburg Mound is a conical burial mound built by the Adena culture roughly 2,000 years ago. At about 65 feet tall, it is one of the largest burial mounds in the eastern United States.
